SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
The practice of getting a page to rank higher in Google's search results.
SEO covers everything that influences ranking: on-page factors (title tags, headings, content quality), technical factors (page speed, crawlability, schema), and off-page factors (backlinks, mentions, brand signals). For indie founders, SEO is a long game — most pages take 3–6 months to rank meaningfully, and the compounding effect is slow but durable. The best SEO strategy for a small team is usually a mix of a few high-effort pillar pages plus programmatic long-tail content targeting specific commercial queries. The most common mistake indie founders make is publishing thin pages (under 500 words) and expecting them to rank — Google's quality systems filter these out in competitive categories. A practical starting point: write one definitive page per problem your tool solves, optimize the title tag and meta description, get listed in 3–5 high-DR directories (like tools.cafe) for initial link equity, and publish consistently. DR 20 is achievable in 6 months with this approach; DR 40+ takes 1–2 years of sustained effort.
